The main features of the Ride Along is that James Payton is a hard as nails cop without a partner in Atlanta, Georgia James Payton is in pursuit of a man named Omar who everyone else believes is a ghost. He is sidetracked by his sister Angela's boyfriend Ben Barber, a high school security guard with a love of video games who longs to become a Police officer. James takes Ben on a ride along to see if Ben is worthy of his sister. James purposely has the Police dispatch send all 126's their way. Ben attempts at diffusing the 126's all result in failure and just as he is about to give up, he discovers what a 126 really is and that James had been purposely bringing him to outrageous calls. Ben refuses to go home and they continue on their ride along. Help With Ben's James is success to find extra information possibly leading them to the area of a gun deal in the town. They create where the gun deal was by interrogating a man whose name J, who Ben accidentally shoots. Then they create Santiago and Miggs have been secretly working for Omar all along. Ben and James are success to free away from the warehouse but Santiago Miggs and Omar were able to free away as well. They threaten to hold Angela hostage but Ben and James arrive thanks to a tip from one of Ben's gamer friends who had heard the confrontation over Ben's open headset. Omar ends up taking the money from the deal along with Angela with James hide behind them. Ben is success to attack Omar unexpectedly. James shoos Omar two time, leaving him injured. Omar is sent to the hospital and Miggs and Santiago are arrested. James lets Ben know he did alright and Ben is over joyed that he now had James' blessing. The movie ends wih Angela showing off her engagement ring at family BBQ James and Ben arguing over who gets to man the grill.
